In more cases than might be suspected,
cooperation and creative collaboration between parties seeking to reach fair and mutually
acceptable agreement is not only desirable, but quite possible. In recent years,
both the public and the legal profession has shown a willingness to explore
alternative methods of resolving legal disputes, without the animosity,
distrust, and undue expense that is often associated with the more traditional
adversarial system. Our firm has long been a leader in these efforts to
seek constructive means of dispute resolution for our clients. Mr. Weiler has acted
as a neutral family law mediator since the mid-1980s. More recently he has
joined with colleagues exploring the brave new world of Collaborative
Law. And in an increasing number of cases, we have found it appropriate to
utilize the services of arbitrators, special masters and/or private judges to assist us
and our clients to resolve disputes in a more cost effective and timely manner than could
be achieved in court. |
